Turing August and September 1914 not less than 60,000 Chinese
returned hurriedly to Chine owing to fears of a bombardment of the Colony following the outbreak of the European war. Special classes are held in all the Schools of the Colony for instruction in Hylene, which includes a Cescription of the part played by mosquitoes in the spread of malaria, and mosquito larvae in Jara covered with mosquito netting are
supplied to all the schools, on application, for demonstration
purposes.
A considerable quantity of literature on this subject
both in English and Chinese is also distributed yearly to
the community.
